Strawberry Pickin'

Is there really anything better, on a hot summer day, to snack on than fresh, juicy strawberries. I love strawberry anything; cake, cupcakes, pie, bread, jam, margaritas. So to say I have already purchased my fair share of strawberries this summer is a given, but this past weekend Tommy and I decided to venture to a "pick-your-own" strawberry field. This is something I had always wanted to do, but had never actually done and let me tell you, it was such a fun experience! I can't believe we hadn't done it sooner. You definitely can't get strawberries any fresher than picking them straight from the ground.
At first we weren't totally sure where to go, I googled pick your own strawberries, and was blown away with the number of strawberry fields so close by. After a few unsuccessful attempts (the first place we went to was closed for ripening), we decided to go to Phillips Farm and found out that it was literally right down the road from where we live! Not only do they have a strawberry field, but they also have a corn maze, haunted farm and Christmas trees. I think we ended up going home with somewhere between 8-10 pounds of strawberries, which only cost us around $12. We've already snacked on them quite a bit, but I have big plans for the rest...possible a strawberry pie or cake...I'll be sure to share the recipe for whatever I end up making.

Have y'all ever been to a strawberry field?

Aww this looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to go strawberry picking so bad lately! I went once with my parents, when I was two or three, but I don't remember because I was too young. Strawberries are one of my favorite fruits!
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures!

ReplyDeleteI really want to do this! I love strawberries and they are so much better from a farm than the grocery store!
ReplyDeleteI love picking my own berries. We have a local blueberry & peach farm where I've gone and picked berries. So fun!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lot of fun! I didn't know that was a thing!
