I decided to start a new beauty regiment using castor oil and coconut oil on my face each night. Castor oil is highly beneficial for a long list of things and is suppose to be especially great for your skin and hair, you can read more about it here. I've started to apply it to my eyelashes and eyebrows in hopes of growing them out. I hate to admit it, but I was a huge over plucker in high school..it's a wonder I still have eyebrows left. I look back at #tbt pictures and have no clue what I was thinking. I feel like that is something I should include in my letter to a younger self..."15 year old self, DO NOT pluck your eyebrows...20 years from now thick luscious brows will be much more desired." I've also been applying the coconut oil to my face for hydration and wrinkle prevention. My skin is normally dry and I had applied this before in the past, but never really stuck to it. If you follow me on twitter, I tweeted about this new regime and had a few respond that they are currently trying the same or have tried it in the past with good results. I'll be sure to put together a full post about the pros/cons of everything after trying it out for a full month.
Who else is watching the People vs OJ Simpson show??? O-M-G addicted!! Honestly, I don't remember much of the trial since I was young when it all took place, but I do most definitely remember the bronco chase..since it was on every channel for multiple hours. I decided to check out the show after all the talk about it on RHOBH when Kathryn got added to the cast. I had no idea she and Faye were a part of the murder case. It's all so intriguing to me, can't wait to keep watching and see it all unfold.
Have any of y'all seen this snapchat trick for adding more lines of text? My mind is blown!! I always hate having to shorten what I want to say to just 1 line with only 31 characters. Also, speaking of snapchat, these pictures/videos of all those crazy filters on pets is hilarious and definitely had me lol'ing and making me want to try it out on Beau. ps: follow me on snapchat: @belleinthecity
So an update on my fiddle leaf fig...so far so good, it even has a few new leaves getting ready to bloom. I have to say I was really hesitate and afraid I was going to kill the poor thing after hearing horror stories of other's not making it or getting nasty spots on the leaves. I most definitely do not have a green thumb, but I am so proud that I haven't killed it. I was on the hunt for a basket and picked up this woven one for it at target and it is the perfect size. Fingers crossed Frank (yes, I named it, lol) keeps doing good!!
Okay so the itch to cut my hair short again has started. I feel like I go through this phase at least once or twice each year. This time I blame Carrie Underwood's gorgeous locks at the Grammy's..I mean she can do no wrong, seriously flawless. I've had long hair for as long as I can remember, until a few years ago when I decided to go shorter (here). For reference this is my length now and I've been pinning away for some inspiration for a shorter do. I don't think I'll go as short as before, but maybe a medium to long bob..here, here + here are few of my favorite pins. What do y'all think?
What are you loving this week? xo, S

Isn't it though?? So glad I came across that ha! Happy Friday!
DeleteI am trying to resist the itch to cut my hair as well. I think part of the problem is that it has been so humid here in NC so I haven't spent the winter loving my hair by straightening it and changing it up. #curlyhairproblems Jess at Just Jess
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, the humidity is out of control...and definitely doesn't help the cause! Have a great weekend! xo
DeleteI definitely need to start watching the OJ Simpson show - I'm waiting to binge watch LOL! My hair is about the same length and I'm getting an itch to do something too, probably wont go crazy too lol! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston

Yes, both coconut and castor oil are definitely great for skin and hair! I can already see some positives results, so I'll be sure to share my full experience after a month! And isn't that snapchat trick awesome?! xo
DeleteI like using coconut oil to take off my mascara! I also am itching to chop my hair off but I'm resisting! At least for now. haha.

That's actually how I started using coconut oil..removing my eye makeup. I'm trying to resist a little while longer, but last time I cut my hair it was a split second decision, ha!
DeleteI can't wait hear your thoughts and pro/con list about the coconut oil I've never put it on my face because it can be so oily and with workout out first thing in the morning I'm afraid of what it might do!! We need to catch the OJ show, like you I remember it but didn't really understand it....to make things even funnier we have a white bronco almost the same year!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've read online, I think a lot of people are deterred from it for fear of it making their skin too oily. I have relatively dry skin and since I'm applying it at night, it seems to "soak in" by the morning and my skin feels smooth and hydrated after washing it. Obviously, everyone's skin is different, so I'm not so sure how it would be for someone's skin who is normally on the oily side. TOO funny that y'all have a similar bronco..I'm behind a few episodes, but it has been very intriguing so far!
DeleteI am so addicted to the people vs OJ Simpson - SO good! I get that itch for the short hair sometimes and I can completely see why you'd want to after seeing Carrie's cut - ah-mazing!
ReplyDeleteHer hair was seriously so gorgeous! Can I just have her hair, her legs and her wardrobe stat? haha!
DeleteI just found your blog and I am in love!
ReplyDeleteI was an over-plucker in high school too! My mom kept telling me to stop because she had done the same thing and regretted it, but did I listen?! No! I didn't believe her when she said full eyebrows would be back!
I'm totally going to try the castor oil!
Hey Beth! So glad you found my blog!
DeleteGirl, my mom told me the same thing and I definitely did not listen, lol! So far, I've seen some good results, so I'll be sure to do a review post after a full month of using it!
Ahhh!! I have been wondering how people are getting to add such long text on their snaps! Thank you for sharing :) SO excited!! Such a fun post! DeleteMy frizzy, curly hair scares me with cutting it short, but I always get the itch around this time of year! I want a fig tree so badly, so now I think I'm going to have to get one! xo, Champagne&Suburbs
ReplyDeleteYes you should totally get one! I was so afraid I would kill it but it seems to be so happy and already has new leaves blooming!
DeleteIf I could be Carrie Underwood, all would be right with the world. Also, I had always wondered how people got all of those lines of text on Snapchat.. now I know!!!
ReplyDeleteHow does the Castor Oil work for you? My waxer recommended it for me (also on my eyebrows), but am afraid it wont work!
Yes girl, you are so right..she is too perfect! When I came across that snapchat trick I just had to share it, so easy!
DeleteSo far the castor oil is working great on my eyebrows.. I can already see a huge grow difference so it seems to be working well! I'll do a full review post after trying it out a bit longer!
